Jewish educational materials in ASL
Jewish Heritage and Holidays in ASL ( JHAH) is a project of the Deborah Sisterhood of Etz Chaim Sephardic Synagogue of Indianapolis, Indiana.
In the late 1990's, our synagogue was searching for Jewish educational materials in ASL for our children's program and found that very little was available. The project began to develop materials that we could use for our own programs and expanded , gradually, to serve the larger Jewish Deaf community. These videos are meant to serve Jewish Deaf, and the parents and educators of Jewish Deaf.
In addition to videos on a variety of Jewish topics, holidays, prayers, history and stories, we have a Passover Haggadah with ASL charts that is in the form of a printable file. There are videos that demonstrate most of the Blessings/ Brachot from the seder, as well.
We have been adding new videos for over ten years. If you are interested in a particular topic, but can't find it, please check with us.
We gladly accept donations, and would be happy to send an acknowledgement card. There are also opportunities to dedicate a video in Honor or in Memory of a loved one. All donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Titles of our videos are located by clicking the link at the top right of this page.
